Official: Russia to prepare new car industry strategy by Nov
CERNOBBIO, Italy, Sep 4 (PRIME) -- The Russian government plans to develop a new strategy for the car industry by November, Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich told reporters on September 2.
The new strategy will encompass both a regime of special investment contracts that will replace car assembly agreements and universal rules, he said.
“We want to make it by November,” he said. “I can’t tell yet, we have not fully discussed it yet… But in any case there will be a set of some universal rules, and moreover, some additional tools like special investment contracts are possible. But there also will be some fundamental part not connected with individual talks with investors,” he said.
Dvorkovich also said that Russia’s largest carmaker AvtoVAZ could keep the number of its staff at the current level if it manages to set up production of new competitive car models.
